Activated Sludge Part 2CE POINTS: 12 (Wastewater) COURSE DURATION: 12 hours (Advanced) SUMMARY: In this course the student will be given the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in part 1 in a hands on laboratory setting. Students are tasked with assessing laboratory data and evaluating how and where operational changes needed to be made in an activated sludge process. This course is a classroom/hands-on course. This should NOT be used for continuing education points. All students will be required to pass the hands-on proctored exam in order to receive certificate of completion. Basic requirements and procedures for confined space entry are discussed. A review of case studies involving confined space accidents is also conducted. Jar Test WorkshopPOINTS: 12 (Water, Wastewater) COURSE DURATION: 12 Hours (Advanced) SUMMARY: This is a lecture and hands-on course focusing on the optimization of performing jar tests in the pursuit of drinking water plant operating efficiency. This course helps the operator determine the best sequence to perform the jar test and can be used to evaluate current and proposed chemical use. Simulated raw water samples, lab apparatus, and chemicals are used throughout the workshop. This course promotes the understanding of how wastewater treatment is performed and controlled. The curriculum was developed through WEF, and is endorsed by ABC. Course content meets the most current needs to know criteria for the Georgia Wastewater Class 3 exam.
