Drinking Water Operator Renewal

To renew your GA Drinking Water Treatment Operator License, you must take the appropriate course work and apply for your renewal. To help, we've compiled information on each of the steps that you will need to take in order to renew your Drinking Water Treatment Operator License.

RENEWAL PROCESS

To renew your Drinking Water Treatment Operator License, please follow these two steps.

STEP 1

Take Appropriate Course Work

To renew your certification, you must earn a certain number of points. The number of points necessary is dependent on your certification type and level. Points are earned through approved coursework. Due to new rules set forth by the Georgia State Board of Examiners for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Laboratory Analysts, a certain percentage of points must be in approved areas of coursework.

Class II Drinking Water Operator 18 At least 50% of points must be in coursework that is approved for Water or both Water and Wastewater
Class III Drinking Water Operator 12 At least 50% of points must be in coursework that is approved for Water or both Water and Wastewater
Class IV Drinking Water Operator 6 At least 50% of points must be in coursework that is approved for Water or both Water and Wastewater

STEP 2

Apply for your Renewal

Once the correct number of points have been obtained, renewal candidates must apply for their renewal through the Board of Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators & Laboratory Analyst http://sos.ga.gov/index.php/licensing/plb/54. The option to renew will be available several months before the renewal deadline.
